Aging and Gay, and Facing Prejudice in Twilight

I missed this excellent article when it appeared in the New York Times in October 2007.  Entitled Aging and Gay, and Facing Prejudice in Twilight By Jane Gross (Published: October 9, 2007) it discusses the challenges faced by the current cohort of aging gays and lesbians who enter into the long term care system. While nascent steps are being taken in major urban centers to provide respectful long term care, there is still fear among the older gay people on how they or their partners will be treated in licensed care facilities, particularly in communities that have not been openly friendly to sexual minorities.
